about

Shy-Talk return with their double A-Side single 'Chauvinism / Didn't The Do Well'. This is the first of many singles the band (featuring members of Blóm, Cave Suns, Hermitage, Onlooker, Waskerley Way, Young Liar) will present over the coming months alongside bespoke and errrm, very original, new merchandise.

‘Chauvinism’ is a screeching meditation on working class bewilderment in the face of an increasingly labyrinthine mess of a political climate, and, somewhat more subtly, a plea for a wholesale decentring of malignant power blocs in general. Presented as an introduction to a forthcoming salvo of double A-side singles, the track comprises two minutes and fifty-two seconds of unhinged Devo-esque rocking sounds produced by a human voice, some guitars, a synthesiser, and a drum kit.

On the digital flip side ‘Didn’t They Do Well’ is the mono-riffed atonal power waltz that the band (Shy-Talk) spent roughly two minutes writing, but two hundred hours perfecting. Finding joy in the observation of joylessness, the band (Shy-Talk) raises a contemptuous eyebrow at heteronormativity through a sound that seeks to emulate both the lilt of Fugazi and the vicious desperation of a team struggling to avoid relegation to EFL League Two.
